Robert Barber For Robert J. Barber painting has been a lifelong passion. He is fascinated with color and the continuous state of change in our world. It is this movement and flow of life that inspires Robert’s landscape and figurative paintings. A collector of his work once said: “It is different in each piece, but I get the sense in all of his paintings that ‘something is happening." That something may be quite vivid and dramatic or it may be quiet and subdued, but Robert is always looking for something poetic.
In 1981, Robert earned a bachelor's degree in studio art from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  In 1984, he completed a bachelor's degree of fine arts at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.  Robert freelanced as an illustrator for twenty years, and several of his paintings are on display in Natural History Museums.  Robert has won Best in Show and People’s Choice awards in the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association’s “Paint Annapolis” exhibitions, he has been juried into the “Arts for the Parks” Top 100 and Mini 100 exhibitions sponsored by the National Parks Academy for the Arts, and he has been juried into the Oil Painters of America national exhibition.
