Robert Baum Borrowing from his training in sculpture, award-winning artist uses light to ‘sculpt’ his paintings.

Robert Baum’s paintings focus on landscape rooted in contemporary realism, working from life and emphasizing light, color, and a lush brushstroke. His sculptures approach their subjects in a similarly interpretive manner.

In his recent paintings, Baum says, “I borrow from my training as a sculptor and use light to ‘sculpt’ my paintings while developing shadows with rich, dark colors.” His interest in depicting the Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania countryside, and Florida Coast continues.

Baum is is a member of the Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast, Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters, Plein Air Florida, as well as New Jersey’s Noyes Museum of Art. He exhibits widely throughout the New Jersey/Pennsylvania region where he has won three sculpture awards.
